Alx driver freezes the connection in Linux kernel 3.8.1

I am using arch linux with latest updates and using 3.8.1 kernel in arch
linux from testing. I used your package
https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2013/03/04/compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u.tar.bz2
I followed the instructions from here
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lenovo_IdeaPad_Y580#Installation
The driver works for a few mins and after a while  the connection freezes
and no data transfer after that.
I am not sure what to look for either. I would be happy to post any log if
you want.
