Xmas break
----------

Merry Christmas to you all!

I hope you're all prepared for Christmas.

I'm not planning to do very much with the kernel over the Christmas
break, so much email will not be read. That's already started last
Thursday, and I intend to resume in the New Year.

arm.linux.org.uk
----------------

The domain has been undergoing some instability since last Thursday. We
have upgraded from ADSL to FTTC, but this seems more like a downgrade
since the connection is a lot more unstable, and taking account of the
upstream and downstream together, slower than the ADSL service (that's
*not* ADSL2+).

As with all UK FTTC installations, they are subject to a one year contract.

We have been working with our ISP since late Friday trying to get this
matter resolved - they agree that the service falls well below what is
expected of it.

Unfortunately, it is proving difficult in many regards to get the problem
correctly diagnosed and fixed. BT/Openreach have been working on the
issue and keep reporting that they've fixed a problem, but we see no
improvement - quite the opposite, we've seen it deteriorate.

We were supposed to have an engineer attend to diagnose the problem on
Sunday afternoon. However, that appointment ended up being cancelled
because the problem had been "fixed" which it hasn't. So yesterday
evening the problem was bounced back to BT/Openreach for further
investigation.

This morning, the ISP informed us that an appointment was required at the
request of BT/Openreach, so another booking has been made.

Meanwhile, I'm having to spend time monitoring, reporting, waiting for
engineers who don't arrive and contacting the ISP to keep this matter
moving forward, and I suspect that this will continue into the New Year.

Hence why I won't be reading email and will not working on the kernel
over this period, and probably won't be having an enjoyable Christmas.
