HOSTSCAN failed

Hi all!
I've a problem with active scanning just when the pcmcia wireless card is
inserted but not touched by iwconfig yet. What I want is to scan available
APs around and then setup the card with AP-specific config. But the scan
gives just errors:

Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: CMD=0x0121 => res=0x7f, resp0=0x0002
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: hfa384x_set_rid: CMDCODE_ACCESS_WRITE failed (res=127, rid=fce5, len=38)
Sep 22 kernel: HOSTSCAN failed
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: CMD=0x0121 => res=0x7f, resp0=0x0002
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: hfa384x_set_rid: CMDCODE_ACCESS_WRITE failed (res=127, rid=fce5, len=38)
Sep 22 kernel: HOSTSCAN failed
Sep 22 kernel: Scan result translation succeeded (length=0)
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: CMD=0x0121 => res=0x7f, resp0=0x0002
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: hfa384x_set_rid: CMDCODE_ACCESS_WRITE failed (res=127, rid=fce5, len=38)
Sep 22 kernel: HOSTSCAN failed
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: CMD=0x0121 => res=0x7f, resp0=0x0002
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: hfa384x_set_rid: CMDCODE_ACCESS_WRITE failed (res=127, rid=fce5, len=38)
Sep 22 kernel: HOSTSCAN failed

I've tried `iwconfig wla0 mode monitor` here, but the scan still does not
work.

Sep 22 kernel: prism2: wlan0: operating mode changed 3 -> 6
Sep 22 kernel: Enabling monitor mode
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: CMD=0x0121 => res=0x7f, resp0=0x0002
Sep 22 kernel: wlan0: hfa384x_set_rid: CMDCODE_ACCESS_WRITE failed (res=127, rid=fce5, len=38)
Sep 22 kernel: HOSTSCAN failed

The scan works after the card is setup the usual debian way and associated,
but this is too late for what I try to do.

I've tried to scan with `iwpriv wlan0 hostscan 1` command.
I'm running Debian unstable with cvs version of hostap driver,
wireless-tools 27+28pre9-1, kernel 2.6.12 (debian), the card is z-com
XI-330.

Have anybody an idea?

thanks
Mody
