dhcp measurement and call flow

Hi,
I would like to measure the dhcp latency from a node.
I used grep to find out where to put gettimeofday in the driver, but found
nothing useful. Would you please let me know where to place the
gettimeofday command to measure the dhcp latency?
Also, where can I get the information about the call flows, which tells
the order of execution when a card is inserted: for example, how it gets
configured and what methods are called in order. Since I am interested in
the measurement of each latency, it would be great if I can get
information about where to find each method.
FYI, I am using fedora core 3 and my card information is as fllows:
NICID: id=0x800c v1.0.0 (PRISM II (2.5) PCMCIA (SST parallel flash))
PRIID: id=0x0015 v1.1.1
STAID: id=0x001f v1.7.4 (station firmware)
Thank you!
