WDS to WDS?

Now something is funky...I cannot even make two radios talk WDS to each
other.

Using the commands Jouni provided in the mail archive at
http://hostap.epitest.fi/hostap/2002-06/0993.html

box 1 with FW 1.3.6:
iwconfig wlan0 mode Repeater
iwpriv wlan0 wds_add <mac of box 2>
ifconfig wlan0wds0 up

box 2 with FW 1.3.6:
iwconfig wlan0 mode Repeater
iwpriv wlan0 wds_add <mac of box 1>
ifconfig wlan0wds0 up

I have tried the same thing with 0.8.3, 1.4.9 and 1.5.6. The cards are
Engenius 2511's and I have tried 4 different ones. Box 1 and box 2 are 1
foot apart..no distance issues

Anytime I set mode to Repeater the rate is always shown as 2Mb/s and Access
Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00...whats up with that?

I have not gone far enough to run IP on the interfaces and test connectivity
but I would assume by looking at the output of iwconfig that nothing is
going to work...I will give it a try regardless.

On each box, iwconfig shows

          Mode:Repeater Frequency:2.412GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00

Does anyone have any ideas?
