WDS to WDS?

Hello all,
I did finally get WDS talking between two boxes...I had to bring up the
wlan0 interface on each with ifconfig wlan0 up.
The link is locked at 2Mbps and nothing I do changes it. I have tested the
speed by transferring a file between and it is around 2Mbps.
Does anyone know what would cause the radios to operate at only 2Mbps?
Thanks!
