eth0 - wds - wds - wlan0

Hello all,

Has anyone been able to successfully get Repeater mode to work between two
hostap boxes?

I have had some success with WDS when using a single radio as the
distribution radio and the WDS radio and bridging the wlan0 and wlan0wds0
but now I am trying to use two radios to do the same and am having no luck.

I have two hostap boxes..AP1 and AP2. AP1 has one radio (wlan0) and one
ethernet (eth0). AP2 has two radios (wlan0, wlan1) and no ethernet.

I am trying to use wlan1 of AP2 as a distribution radio (iw_mode=3) in
Master mode and use wlan0 of AP2 as a wds/repeater radio (iw_mode=4) to talk
to AP1 in which it's wlan0 is configured for repeater mode as well.

I have moved back to just trying to get the WDS link up between the two
boxes and skipping everything else...and no luck doing that.

AP1 FW is 1.4.9
AP2 FW is 0.8.3

I have both AP1 and AP2 radios (wlan0 on each) configured as follows:

iwconfig wlan0 mode Repeater
iwconfig wlan0 essid test
iwconfig wlan0 channel 1
iwconfig wlan0 txpower 200mW
prism2_param wlan0 other_ap_policy 1
prism2_param wlan0 autom_ap_wds 1

cat /proc/net/hostap/wlan0/wds shows nothing

When I run iwconfig wlan0 on either box I get:

wlan0 IEEE 802.11-b ESSID:"test"
          Mode:Repeater Frequency:2.412GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
          Bit Rate=2Mb/s Tx-Power=24 dBm Sensitivity=1/3
          Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

and when I run iwconfig wlan0wds0 on either box I get:

wlan0wds IEEE 802.11-b ESSID:"test"
          Mode:Repeater Frequency:2.412GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
          Bit Rate=2Mb/s Tx-Power=24 dBm Sensitivity=1/3
          Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off

When I do an iwpriv wlan0 wds_add <other box mac> on each box I still cannot
see the two boxes are connected.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I am missing?

Thanks!

-Dave
