It's good to know what to look for!  I looked for SPKR and MD11 on Google
and immediately found schematics of SMC 2632:

MD11 (as well as MD10 and MD9) are connected to pin 62 (SPKR) on the
PCMCIA bus, and there is a tag called GEN_MODE on that line.
