Doesn't the next message (http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/rtmpdump/2011-
January/001267.html) say it is actually an rtmpdump problem because rtmpdump 
is not actually returning the expected zero exit code after all?

In any case, it certainly seems to be that any interrupted download now fails 
to complete.
