Hm, that doesn't make much sense for an MTU issue. If we're sending a
too-large packet, surely that should bite as soon as we're doing any
bulk transfer of data? Not 50M into a transfer? Are you sure this is
the same problem?

What is the correct MTU, and what is set up by 7.06 and 7.08? 

If you do a packet capture and observe the stall, what are the last
packets being sent? Are you able to capture at the other end too?
