Jumpering doesn't work on all memory modules... otherwise we'd have 
already done that.  The module has to be designed to work in 32-bit wide 
mode... most other devices are 64-bit.  Of those few manufacturers that 
make a 32-bit wide part, they cover their losses so to speak by making 
their modules convertible.
