Suman,  

I remember the python wrapper to be in state "unmaintained".  

the last release I remember it being build was .23; It threw lots of warnings
while doing the swig stuff, and nobody wanted to fix them. I guess it finaly
didn't want to compile.  

If you need the python bindings, you should have a look at that too.
