A puzzle

Gentlemen:

I am searching for a few clues.

I have an embedded system where I am moving the kernel from 2.6.35.12
to 2.6.39 to pick up a few newer wireless USB devices with
hostapd-0.7.3 and am using buildroot to create the file system.

In the 2.6.35 kernel with Belkin F5D7050 & F5D9050 devices, things
work fine. That is, hostapd and dhcpd come up fine and form an access
point.

But, in the 2.6.39 kernel. the access point does not always come up.
That is, I can see beacons being transmitted (with a wireless packet
sniffer), but connections are not accepted.

It looks like hostapd pauses or disables the interface, wlan0 about
10% of the time.

Can anyone give me a clue where to start looking, please?
