Need to ping from client everytime

Dear all,

I've installed a netgate mini-PCI (prism 2.5 chipset with hostap driver 0.47) card in a linux box (slackware 10.2)

When the linux box startup up, I cannot ping it through my desktop PC, unless I issue a ping comand from the linux box to my desktop PC.
