I remember optimizing at least one case where there was a 0..1 sec
latency in EAP and/or WPA authentication. This was in 0.4.2 or 0.4.3.

Getting a sniffer log and/or hostapd debug log with timestamps that
shows this kind of latency would be helpful in findout what what is
happening.
