Version 2.80 of get_iplayer has been released. Changes here:

http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer/CHANGELOG-get_iplayer

Upgrade information is below. Any problems or questions should be
posted to this list.

Windows Users

For Windows users, a new installer package (version 4.3) has been
released. The new installer can be obtained at the usual address:

http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer_win/get_iplayer_setup_latest.exe

The previous installer should also offer to download the new version and
perform an upgrade. The new installer will fully upgrade a previous
get_iplayer installation, but you may wish to uninstall the old version
first.

IMPORTANT: You should elect to install ALL components. You should be
prompted to do so when the installer runs. Everything has been updated,
and the new installer works a bit differently underneath, so a full
(re)installation is the way to clean up the previous installation and
get everything updated properly.

What you get with the new installer:

get_iplayer 2.80
Strawberry Perl 5.12.3, with MP3::Tag module for full MP3 tagging
MPlayer 1.0-rc2
LAME 3.98.4
FFmpeg 0.8
VLC 1.1.11
RTMPDump 2.4
AtomicParsley 0.9.4

The sharp-eyed amongst you will have noted that the MPlayer version is
actually the same. However, you should reinstall it so that the
installer's configuration can be properly initialised.

If any of the helper applications fail to download during installation,
try again at a later time. The third-party download sites may be
temporarily unavailable.

DIY Linux/OSX Users

Update via the command line:

$ get_iplayer --update

A tarball of the 2.80 release can be found here:

Linux Package Manager Users

If you installed get_iplayer on Linux via a package manager, the
procedure will be specific to your installation, e.g., you may need to
use "sudo" to acquire administrator privileges for a command line
update, or you may need to use your package manager. Refer to any
information that came with your installation package.
