pcmcia detected, but not working

Hi.

I am not quite sure that this is the best place to ask this question. 
Forgive me if not.

I have a system that uses UMTS pcmcia and pccards. I am trying to 
upgrade it from kernel 2.6.18 to 2.6.19, and at the same time begin to 
use the new pcmcia system.

I have two main pcmcia cards... Novatel Merlin U630 and Sierra Wireless 
Aircard 850.

First one was detected from the beginning:

pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
cs: memory probe 0x80000000-0x9fffffff: excluding 0x80000000-0x9fffffff
cs: memory probe 0xa0000000-0xafffffff: excluding 0xa0000000-0xa07fffff
pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0
pcmcia: request for exclusive IRQ could not be fulfilled.
pcmcia: the driver needs updating to supported shared IRQ lines.
0.0: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 1) is a 16550A
pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.1
pcmcia: request for exclusive IRQ could not be fulfilled.
pcmcia: the driver needs updating to supported shared IRQ lines.
0.1: ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 0) is a 16550A

Second one required me to copy the .cis to 
/sys/class/pcmciasocket/pcmciasocket0/cis, but once done this, it worked ok.

Now, my problem is, that although correctly (I hope) detected, Novatel 
card does not answer to AT commands, while Sierra Wireless yes.
