32-bit pc card cannot be seen

Thanks for the advice.  Here's what happened...

Using 2.6.14.3, I got a message

yenta EnE: chaning testregister 0xC9, 04 -> 04

So far, the card has not shown up in lspci...

Then I added the pci=assign-busses as you advised,

The card was detected!!! And I was able to configure and use my
wireless LAN card.  Thanks!  It even worked when I added the parameter
under 2.6.8. :-)

Care to explain what was the problem?  Even though my problem is
solved, I would still like to find out what happened.
