Having problem with a sever which has 18 PCI slots to run 18 PCMC IA cards

So you're saying the problem actually is that PCMCIA adapters only work in
slots 1, 2, 9 and 10?  ie if you take all the cards out of the system
and put a pcmcia adapter in slot 3, it will not work?
