This isn't an issue:
if (8 + 3 < 14 &&
!strncmp("xen,xen-", "xen,xen-4.3.1", 8)
would return true
and version is set to "4.3.1".

For the same reason this shouldn't be an issue either:
if (8 + 3 < 13 &&
!strncmp("xen,xen-", "xen,xen-4.11", 8)
would return true
and version would be set to "4.11".
BTW I have just tried both out of paranoia and it works as expected.
