one does not simply wait 8-10 minutes between sysupgrading images

before you try another such change that would bring negligible improvement in daily use, better think of a different approach: if i remember correctly most of these chips can operate at up to 100MHz, yet openwrt/lede defaults are somewhere around 25MHz. due to customized u-boot on my tp-link mobile router the spi clock was set to 37MHz and all the operations were carried out extremely fast.
