Thanks for your help with my newbie questions, Mathias.

Next week I hope to move my build environment from a very old setup (archaeological version of VMware running prehistoric Ubuntu on a 32-bit machine) to a modern computer, so I'll be able to tinker with building and rebuilding without waiting days. I will report when I manage.

As for the notifications, I just solved the problem. FYI, it's gmail. For some reason, messages from lede-bugs went into spam (but mail from the lede forums didn't!). Thanks again.
