I see this got here before I got here to write it up.

The easiest way to reproduce / confirm this issue, set up a wds link using 4addr style connection with bridging on both ends, stp enabled on the bridge.  brctl showstp will show that both ends of the link are operating as independant root bridges (assuming no other bridges providing stp over a wired link).  This used to work correctly with openwrt.cc level code where stp flowed over the link and the system had a single root bridge.
