is rtl8192cu compatible with hostapd ?

Hi I have a USB wifi network adapter which uses rtl8192cu driver.
Will it work with hostapd ?

Note when I add that driver name or variants like 8192cu, it throws an
error saying that the driver could not be found.
E.g. driver=8192cu

Note If I don's specify the driver name it tries to use nl80211 (even when
in the config file it sais that the default driver is "hostapd"), but it
cannot be initialized, I guess cause my wifi adapter does not work with
that device driver.
