Connection issues / false authentication problems

Good day,

I've the following trouble with wpa_supplicant:

    - reports of auth_failures, although the password is correct [0]
    - reports 4-Way handshake failing, indicating PSK incorrect [1]

When the first problem starts, it may take minutes up to hours to get
wifi working again. In both cases dmesg reports timeouts [2].

Sometimes it seems to help to associate to another AP, sometimes it
helps to restart the AP.

I tried adding the following options to the kernel modules:
    options iwlmvm power_scheme=1
    options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=N swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1

so far they seem to work.

My question to this list: Is there any way to find out what is exactly
happening and to debug / fix this problem?

I wonder specifically, why I see the auth failures happening, although
the key is unchanged (on both AP and client side).
