They are google's own versions. Official upstream wpa_supplicant releases include 0.7.3, 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, etc.

I'd bet that _6 == 0.6.x and _8 == 0.8.x, except that 0.8.x was renamed to wpa_supplicant 1.0 before it was released. So _8 is likely a snapshot from before wpa_supplicant 1.0.
