4 digit PIN for WPS2.0

But from the WSC2.0 spec I get the following,

 

 

Devices that use a display to show the PIN and can generate a new PIN must use either a 4-digit or 8-digit PIN. The last digit of an 8-digit PIN is used as the checksum of the first 7 digits. Section 7.4.1 specifies how the checksum is generated. A 4-digit PIN does not include a checksum digit. 

 

So it seems, any device with display which generates PIN for the user, can have either 4 or 8 digit PIN generation option. My question came from this understanding whether wpa_supplicant 0.8.x has a 4 digit PIN generation option or not.

As I know, the 4 digit PIN is random number.

You can pick up any 4 digit for it. The defination in spec only said that

the 4 digit PIN you don't need to verify the last digit.

In 8 digit PIN, it separate the PIN from first 4 digit and second 4 digit.

For 4 digit, it just separate from the fist 2 digit and second 2 digit.

Hi ,

>From wpa_supplicant 0.8.x code, I could see only 8 digit PIN generation. But as pr my understanding from WPS2.0 spec, both 4 and 8 digit PIN generation MUST be supported. 

Can some one please clarify. Also I assumed wpa_supplicant 0.8.x is WPS2.0 compliant.
