wpa_supplicant 0.7.3 mode = 2 is not working

Hello, 

 

I am trying to set a Realtek 8188su device to work as an Access Point
(master), on a linux 2.6.24 kernel. 

 

Im confused about wpa_supplicant to add mode=2 in its latest releases,
what is the difference between that and the functionality that hostpd
provides?

 

The driver from Realtek should be able to configure the Access Point,
yet I get errors when executing the ioctls. Does anyone can give me any
hints on how to do it?
