Configuring hwsim0 using hostapd

Hi

I have a config file as below.

interface=hwsim0
driver=madwifi
ssid=madwifi test

i have installed hostapd0.7.3 and madwifi 0.9.4

When I run the conf with hostapd (./hostapd simple_test.conf), I got the
following error.
====== Configuration file: ../hostapd-0.7.3/hostapd/host.conf
====== ioctl[SIOCSIWMODE]: Operation not supported
====== Could not set interface to master mode!
====== madwifi driver initialization failed.

Could some one help me out , in resolving this issue ?
