Can't add wlan0 to br0

Hi,

I seem unable to add wlan0 to the bridge br0, I get a strange error
"Can't add wlan0 to br0: Operation not permitted", however after boot
and start of hostadp adding wlan0 to the bridge works. I'm adding the
bridge using /etc/network/interfaces in debian lenny.
