The box may be a bit unusual and old, but that should not be too much of
an issue. However, the kernel version is way too old for me to remember
what exactly was the state of AP support there. I would start from
assumption that it did not work very well. There is not much point in
trying to debug that old code anymore, so I can only suggest a test with
a more recent kernel version if you want to get more help on this.

I would also suggest using a snapshot from 0.7.x tree when using
nl80211. There has been large number of changes in nl80211 and it would
likely be easier to use the current snapshot as the starting point.
