Hostapd memory requirements

Hi, it seems that hostapd eats about 600kbyte for each sta, and that is
fine in many cases but running on an Ubiquiti Nanostation5 with only 
16Mbyte of RAM...
So, how can I reduce the amount of ram used by hostapd (by changing the 
configuration or by disabling some not needed modules at compile time 
or.. ).
what are the "hot spots" from the memory consumption point od view?
