Have you tried using Linux wireless extensions (CONFIG_DRIVER_WEXT=y)
with that driver?

The driver_broadcom.c in wpa_supplicant is for much older Broadcom
driver interface and won't work with the new driver versions. Anyway, I
would expect that you don't even need it.
