Have you asked the madwifi driver vendor what could cause this issue?
This is a kernel (driver) oops, not a userspace (hostapd) crash. The
stacktrace from kernel seems to indicate that the crash happened in a
closed source component (ath) which makes it difficult to debug this for
anyone else than the maintainer of that code.
