Can't connect WPA2 to Billion 7402VGP router

OK, looks like it's the router's fault. When I set it for WPA instead
of WPA2, and change proto=WPA2 to proto=WPA, I get wpa_ie_len=24 and
a working connection. I'll raise this with Billion (WPA2 support is
fairly new in this model).
For WPA2, should I be seeing wpa_ie_len=0, rsn_ie_len=nonzero?
I'm not happy fooling with my neighbour's AP's configuration, so I'll
take ndiswrapper on faith for the time being (lots of other people
seem to be able to make it work).
