I would find it surprising if the use of IPv6 itself would be behind
this kind of issue. Different packets may trigger something in the
driver, but wpa_supplicant could not really care less about what kind of
packets are sent over the data connection as long as the EAPOL frames
(which user their own ethertype) get through. I would need to get more
details to provide better guesses on what could be causing this.
