different firmware version in windows and linux

Hi,

Recently i bought ASUS WL-100(prism 2.5 based) pcmcia 802.11b WLAN card.
On windows in ASUS utilities it shows firmware(i guess it is STA
firmware) version as 1.7.4 (it does not show primary firmware version)
while in linux it shows STA firmware version as 1.4.2 
Any comments on this? should i update the firmware or not?

command  "hostap_diag wlan0" gives following output
