wpa_supplicant: should "Associated with" and "RX EAPOL from" report the same MAC?

I'll send a capture file to Jouni; just for the archives:
>> Associated to a new BSS: BSSID=00:90:96:cf:43:cf

It indeed is! So you're right suggesting "Authenticator (i.e., a part of
WPA/IEEE 802.1X functionality in AP) could be using another MAC
addressess than the BSSID of the AP."
By the way: I am not too sure if the Alcatel/Thomson Speedtouch 580 ADSL
modem / wireless access point is used a lot. Here in the Netherlands one
of the main ADSL providers is kind of giving it away for free; that
might simply imply that Thomson wants to get rid of some old equipment.
Browsing the internet for details mainly yields French and Dutch
results; in computer stores one would, however, most probably find
Linksys, Edimax, SMC en E-Tech access points.

Arjan
