Ok, i have iwconfig recognizing 2 wireless connections, wifi0 and 
wlan0.  I have the alias wlan0 hostap_pci in the /etc/modules.conf.

I am receiving a warning about the driver for wifi0 using 
Wireless extention v16 while iwconfig uses v15.  Do i need to update 
iwconfig?

The card defaults to Master mode, although none of the other computers 
show it on their wifi lists.  When i try to change it to Managed mode, 
it blanks the essid, drops the rate to 2mB/s and locks it there.  As for
my system, it's a Asus K7m Slot A 800mhz 160 Ram.  It runs linux
mandrake which i built kernel 2.6.1 on (last weeks project).

Any attempt to change the essid does not receive an error, but does not
show in the iwconfig.

Any suggestions?
