Question concerning automatic joining

Hi!
I have hostap 0.1.2 running and additionally ifplugd and waproamd
running for automatic configuration.
But it looks to me that the hostap driver automatically tries to join
some AP.
Example:
* waproamd starts, and scans the network, finding one accesspoint:
Jan 12 12:17:21 gandalf waproamd(wlan0)[811]: Scan results:
Jan 12 12:17:21 gandalf waproamd(wlan0)[811]: 1. Found AP 00:06:25:c4:7c:57, ESSID 'norbunet', script: no
Jan 12 12:17:21 gandalf waproamd(wlan0)[811]: Scan finished.
* Then waproamd sets the essid, and the wep keys, thus hostap can
associate:
Jan 12 12:17:21 gandalf vmunix: wlan0: Trying to join BSSID 00:06:25:c4:7c:57
Jan 12 12:17:21 gandalf vmunix: wlan0: LinkStatus=1 (Connected)
Jan 12 12:17:21 gandalf vmunix: wlan0: LinkStatus: BSSID=00:06:25:c4:7c:57
* now ifplugd kicks in and starts dhcp, this is working:
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 4
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf ifplugd(wlan0)[781]: client: DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 4
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf dhclient: DHCPOFFER from 192.168.1.1
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf ifplugd(wlan0)[781]: client: DHCPOFFER from 192.168.1.1
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf ifplugd(wlan0)[781]: client: DHCPREQUEST on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf dhclient: DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf ifplugd(wlan0)[781]: client: DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf ifplugd(wlan0)[781]: client: SIOCADDRT: File exists
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf dhclient: bound to 192.168.1.31 -- renewal in 821 seconds.
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf ifplugd(wlan0)[781]: client: bound to 192.168.1.31 -- renewal in 821 seconds.
Jan 12 12:17:22 gandalf ifplugd(wlan0)[781]: Program executed successfully.
* Bingo, we got an IP adress.
But then, some seconds later:
Jan 12 12:17:31 gandalf vmunix: wlan0: Trying to join BSSID 00:00:00:00:00:00
Jan 12 12:17:31 gandalf vmunix: wlan0: LinkStatus=2 (Disconnected)
Jan 12 12:17:31 gandalf vmunix: wlan0: LinkStatus: BSSID=44:44:44:44:44:44
For me it looks like waproamd/ifplugd are doing right, but the hostap
driver automatically tries to associated in specific intervals.
Is this possible? How can I check for this?
Thanks a lot for any comments and hints
(BTW: debian/sid, 2.4.24, hostap-0.1.2 from debian/sid hostap-source)
Best wishes
Norbert
