Hi all. I am having some trouble seeing my wireless card with redhat 9. Was
hoping some of you might be able to point me in the right direction. I have
a compaq EN with a pci SMC 2802W wireless card .. mainly SMC G wireless.
This is the card I am planning on using for my AP. Unless someone can
suggest an alternate G wirless card that will work as an AP.

So for starters im using the HOSTAP kernel rpm. And have installed the 2.0
drivers (at least i think i did)

[root at wireless1 2.4.20-13.9.HOSTAP]# uname -a
Linux wireless1 2.4.20-13.9.HOSTAP #1 Tue Jun 3 14:40:04 PDT 2003 i686 i686
i386 GNU/Linux

Drivers installed by make pci then the make install_pci..

[root at wireless1 2.4.20-13.9.HOSTAP]# ls -altr
/lib/modules/2.4.20-13.9.HOSTAP/net/
total 1364
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Feb 19 16:14 .
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Feb 19 16:14 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 315216 Feb 19 16:44 hostap_pci.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 464484 Feb 19 16:44 hostap.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 158452 Feb 19 16:44 hostap_crypt_wep.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 210908 Feb 19 16:44 hostap_crypt_tkip.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 210500 Feb 19 16:44 hostap_crypt_ccmp.o

Depmod -a returns nothing which is wierd..

[root at wireless1 2.4.20-13.9.HOSTAP]# /sbin/depmod -ae
[root at wireless1 2.4.20-13.9.HOSTAP]#

upon reboot dmesg returns the following

hostap_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
hostap_pci: 0.0.3 - 2003-05-18 (Jouni Malinen <jkmaline at cc.hut.fi>)
hostap_pci: No devices found, driver not installed.
