Association duration?

Hello,

I had a quick question about the association duration. Its probably a
general 802.11 question, but folks doing advanced development using HostAP
might have dealt with this, so....

If I'm associated with an AP, and I move out of range, how long does it
take for the AP to realize this and disassociate with me? So, technically,
if I come back into the range of the AP before this interval expires, I
don't have to re-associate with the AP.

I'd appreciate any pointers that anyone might have on this.
