Help NEEDED with hostap_pci

Hi All,

Would need some help on the info/error below(Did i miss out anything?). 
WHen i did either :
# iwpriv wlan0 prism2_param autom_ap_wds 1wlan0     
no private ioctls.

#./prism2_param wlan0 wds_type 4
wlan0     no private ioctls.

Interface 'wlan0' does not seem to support prism2_param command.
Run './prism2_param' without any arguments for usage information.

Below is my Wireless card model and FW:
D-LINK DWL-520
# ./hostap_diag wlan0

I have a smc AP hardware lying around in my house and i would like to
configure my D-LINK AP to work as a "add-on" to my SMC AP for
connections.  Maybe "add-on" would means repeater? i do not know, or
maybe i can anyone 1st of all guide me into testing if my D-LINK AP is
running?  From my WinXP client, i could detect my D-LINK AP but could
not connect to it for internet connection.

I have tried to configure wds but "# cat /proc/net/hostap/wlan0/wds"
returns me nothing.  

One wierd thing is when i did a ifconfig, i get wifi0!!!
