Bridging Blues

Hi ,
Can anybody share the experience of bridging the
HostAP to wired network? 
wireless interfaceis  "wlan0 ", and I have another
wired interface " eth1" 
When I start bridging by 

brctl addbr br0
brctl addif br0 eth1
brctl addif br0 wlan0

ifconfig wlan0 0.0.0.0 up
ifconfig eth1 0.0.0.0 up
ifconfig br0 192.168.3.1 up 
the configurations are set.

but when i look for wlan Ap using command "iwconfig"
there is no trace of wlan0 AP.

only when explicitly i am running command "iwconfig
wlan0 " only the wlan0 AP info is available.

Can anybody tell me where is the mistake???
