wds speed issues

Hello,

I have two boxes connected about 0.5 miles apart. Each of them is
configured with hostapd in master mode. In addition, each of them has a
wds link manually setup to the other box. 

The intra-box link speed appears to be stuck at 2MB. Is the autospeed
negotiation not available for wds links?

hostap 0.0.3
Kernel 2.4.20 
Wds_type=4
Firmware=1.6.3
Other_ap_policy=2

I check the speed by looking at the stats on /proc/net/hostap/wlan0/mac
and it shows last_rx rate to be 2M.
I also know there is potential for higher throughput because if I
configure either side as station or if I enable the wlan0sta I get 11M
reported on the same stat file.

I don't know if this is relevant but I noticed that for wds links
/proc/net/hostap/wlan0/mac does not show any supported_rates.

Can somebody help?
