DCF + Where is it?

Hello,
Does anyone know if the Distributed Coordination Function is 
implemented in the HostAP software or in the firmware of the PRISM 
chips?

The reason I ask is that I am planning to implement the Point 
Coordination Function with the aim of providing priority sockets for 
real time traffic. However, if the DCF has to be implemented in 
firmware then it may not be possible to do the PCF.
