I have found the error.
You will need the latest wireless ext. from
http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/Tools.html
With linux 2.4.22-pre1 + hostap 0.3.0 + Wireless Extensions v16 all runs
fine now.
