ideas on how to improve throughput over a long (relativly weak) wireless link.

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone out there has any ideas on how to improve upon a long wireless link.

In particular, i was wondering if the RTS/CTS settings and fragmentation settings could perhaps increase the efficiency of my connection, if nothing else.  If so, how would i set them properly?  

Perhaps someone could explain how these settings affect link/throughput?
