Well, after extensive stupy of the hosap archives, i have managed to find the file i needed to use... thanks to evilbunny... look here...

http://www.sydneywireless.com/hostap  the correct for ram downloading is the r1010506.hex file... Thanks bunny, so now i have 1.5.6  even better  :).  but i will get the 1.4.9 from Compaq before it goes the way of the intersil driver!
