ad-hoc works but master does not

you probably need wireless tools installed on your AP to control things 
like ipaddress and ssid, etc. of the AP...it gives you the iwconfig command 
really.  you will also need dchpd installed and configured (to hand out IP 
addresses on your wlan0).    you may also need to build the kernel again 
for NAT (masquerade). i'm not sure if default install of linux has this 
option turned on or not....anyone know?    while your at it, might as well 
install DNS(named) to translate domain names too.
